VOC emission from materials

VOC EMISSION FROM MATERIALS

VOC detection and quantification techniques developed at LCMA are applicable to:

    • Quantification of VOC emission from construction materials (dwellings, vehicles, …)
    • Studies of reduction of VOC emitted from construction materials or adjustments in ventilation systems in order to enhance indoor air quality
    • Evaluation of the emission potential of new construction materials

CHARACTERIZATION OF BIOGENIC EMISSIONS

A sampling design for the retention, characterization and analysis of VOC and SVOC emission from vegetal species in their own habitat has been developed in our laboratory.

EVALUATION OF VOC REDUCTION EFFICIENCY IN AIR QUALITY ENHANCEMENT SYSTEMS

Pollutants reduction efficiency in air quality enhancement or purification systems is a key aspect that has to be known. However, most equipment present in the market for air quality improvement in dwellings has not been evaluated in the field, and therefore their real contaminant removal efficiencies are unknown.

The different technologies developed in the LCMA allow the determination of the reduction efficiency of a wide range of COV and inorganic compounds in air purifying systems.

DETERMINATION OF TRIHALOMETHANES IN OUTDOOR, INDOOR AND EXHALED AIR

The technique for the sampling and analysis of VOC in air developed in our laboratory allows the evaluation of trihalomethane levels in the atmospheric environment for the evaluation of air quality in facilities where water is treated with halogenated compounds (swimming pools, …)
